Tacofino is bringing its iconic surf town vibes to White Rock beginning Friday, May 17th
Celebrating with free taco gift cards to the first 500 customers Saturday to Monday
Surf and sunshine are the combination that inspires Tacofino daydreams, so it seems only natural for them to bring their surf town vibes and vibrant flavours to White Rock, the sunniest beach town in the Lower Mainland.
On Friday, May 17th at 3pm–just in time for the long weekend–the newest Tacofino location will open at Miramar Village in central White Rock. With 20 indoor seats and a sun splashed 16-seat patio, it will serve up a full menu of Tacofino classics like the iconic Fish Taco and Crispy Chicken Burrito alongside new favourites like the irresistible Soft & Crunchies and melty Gringas. A range of local beers and full cocktail service highlighted by Tacofino’s famous margaritas will also be available for dine-in customers with a fast and tasty take-out menu perfect for beach days.
Before the highway, White Rock was a popular stop on the coastal route to and from the USA, and the design concept draws deeply from this flower-powered history. Designer Shiloh Sukkau: “the concept for the space is to create an interior with a retro vibe reminiscent of the poster art and psychedelic patterns from the 70s along the West Coast. It blends materials and colours unique to this location with more familiar Tacofino elements.”
White Rock is a vibrant and growing part of the Lower Mainland, but it has always retained a small town feel which matches perfectly with Tacofino’s Tofino roots. With great neighbours and a location adjacent to the White Rock Farmers Market and Uptown Music Festival, Tacofino is excited to be a part of this tight-knit beachside community starting with White Rock Beach clean-up on May 11th hosted by long-time Tacofino partner, Surfrider Foundation.
“Since we started this project, we’ve been blown away by the warmth we’ve felt from everyone we’ve met ,” said Tacofino Managing Partner Gino Di Domenico. “Local businesses, the BIA, and City Council have all taken time to welcome us and we’re looking forward to being part of this very special community.”
As a delicious thank-you to Tacofino lovers who have been waiting patiently for the White Rock location to open, the first 500 customers each day on Saturday May 18th, Sunday 19th, and Monday May 20th will receive a free taco gift card (with purchase) that can be used from June 1st to July 31st.
Tacofino White Rock will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with its famous happy hour seven days a week. Visit tacofino.com for menus and hours and follow along on Instagram at @tacofinolovesyou for news and updates. Make a plan to visit soon!
About Tacofino:
Tacofino was founded the summer of 2009, in a little orange taco truck at the back of the Live to Surf Parking Lot in Tofino BC, by Kaeli Robinsong and Jason Sussman. With their combined passions for cooking, surfing, and community, they created the original menu that still holds strong in Tofino today. Their non-traditional expression of Mexi-Cali style "Beach Food" pulls inspiration from their surf travels all over the world and is echoed in their ever-expanding menu iterations as the brand grows, bringing with it the OG Tacofino vibe to communities all over BC. Their commitment to ethics, sustainability, integrity, and community wellness, informs how they operate and staff their businesses, with a growing workforce of over 250 employees.
